AlloDerm ®
AlloDerm ® is a unique product that is used in augmentation. It’s unique because actually becomes a part of the area that is being remodeled. AlloDerm ® is placed just underneath the skin and is soft and cannot be detected – which means that it’s versatile enough to smooth out atrophic acne scars and laugh lines (nasolabial folds) and can be used in delicate procedures, like lip augmentation.
Prior to using AlloDerm ® on a patient, doctors will consult with their patients to determine if the product is ideal for their affliction. Before using AlloDerm ® is used first trimmed to the exact size of the area it will be used in, is re-hydrated and is then placed under the skin, using special instruments, while the patient is under a local anesthesia. After the product is placed underneath the skin the entrance and exit incisions are carefully closed with stitches.
